Forreston dropped their record down to 24-5 on Saturday, which also ended the team's nine-game streak of wins. They came up short against the Dunlap Eagles, falling 8-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Cardinals have suffered since April 27, 2024.

Kendall Erdmann made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with two doubles, one stolen base, and one RBI.

As for Dunlap, they have been performing well recently as they've won 15 of their last 18 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-7 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.2 runs on average over those games.

On Dunlap's side, Jackson Newton was excellent, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. That's the most hits Newton has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Davis Weeks, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs.

While Forreston had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair will be back at it again later today.
