Purchase Line is headed into Friday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their sixth straight game last Tuesday. They took a blow against Northern Cambria, falling 61-25. The contest marked the Red Dragons' lowest-scoring game so far this season.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Ian Layden, who posted eight points. Micah Lotson also deserves some recognition as he posted his first assist of the season.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Marion Center). They breezed by Harmony Area to the tune of 73-42 on Thursday. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win the Stingers have posted since December 15, 2023.
Purchase Line better focus on containing Kamden Rozier and Cameron Pack as the pair were huge in Marion Center's win. Rozier went 12 for 21 on his way to 25 points and three steals, while Pack dropped a double-double on 14 points and ten assists. Those ten assists gave Pack a new career-high. Mason Desmond was another key player, dropping a double-double on 16 points and 12 boards.
Marion Center smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in six consecutive matches.
Purchase Line's loss dropped their record down to 2-13. As for Marion Center, their victory bumped their record up to 5-10.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Purchase Line has been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 21.7 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Marion Center struggles in that department as they've been averaging 26.8 boards. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
