Basketball Game Preview: Montgomery Bears vs. Huntsville Hornets

Montgomery is 1-6 against Huntsville since December of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Montgomery Bears will face off against the Huntsville Hornets at 7:00 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Montgomery's tournament run continued when they took on Canyon Lake on Saturday. Montgomery blew past Canyon Lake 66-37. The Bears have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight matches by 22 points or more this season.

Meanwhile, Huntsville didn't have too much trouble with Dobie on Saturday as they won 62-45. Given the Hornets' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 267th, while the Longhorns are ranked 766th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Montgomery's record now sits at 14-8. As for Huntsville, their record is now 11-5.

Montgomery couldn't quite finish off Huntsville in their previous meeting back in December of 2023 and fell 62-59. Can Montgomery avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
