Baseball Recap: Refugio Has No Trouble Against Woodsboro

Refugio got themselves on the board against Woodsboro on Friday, but Woodsboro never followed suit. They blew past the Eagles 13-0. The result was nothing new for the Bobcats, who have now won seven contests by seven runs or more so far this season.

Mattew Perez was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out eight over five innings pitched. Those eight strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 1-for-3.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Kayden Garza, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-3. Those two runs gave him a new career-high. Ray Lewis was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Refugio was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .417. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .379 or higher in three consecutive matches.

Refugio's victory bumped their record up to 10-8-1. As for Woodsboro, they dropped their record down to 5-12 with the loss, which was their third straight at home.
