            Softball Recap: Gunn Titans vs. Mountain View Spartans        
        
		
        
        
            Gunn had lost six straight at home, but  on Thursday they dropped their record down to 7-15 to make it seven. They came up short against  the Mountain View Spartans, falling  10-3. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Spartans this season, as they also lost their prior matchup  7-0  back in April.
 Gunn saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was  Katie Fitzhugh, who  went 1-for-3 with one  double and one  RBI.
As for Mountain View, their win bumped their record up to 9-10. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for their hitters, who had struggled in the games prior.
On Mountain View's side,  Caroline Kim made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she  tossed 6.2 innings while giving up just two earned  (and one unearned) runs off   five  hits. Kim has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't  given up  more than two  walks in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate,  getting on base  in four of her five plate appearances with two  runs, two  RBI,  and one  double. Those  two  runs gave  her a new career-high.
 In other batting news,  the team  relied heavily on  Kasey Spaulding, who  got on base  in four of her five plate appearances with two  runs, two  doubles,  and one  stolen base. Those  two  doubles gave  her a new career-high.  Courtenay Nappo was another key player,  going 2-for-3 with three  runs and one  stolen base.
 We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Gunn will  face off against  rival Wilcox  at 11:00  a.m.  on Saturday. Meanwhile, Mountain View is set to  challenge  their familiar foe Los Altos  at 4:00  p.m.  on Friday.
