Softball Recap: Battle Ground Academy Drops Season-High Score on Nolensville

If Battle Ground Academy was feeling good fresh off their 11-1 takedown of Grace Christian Academy last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Battle Ground Academy fell just short of the Nolensville Knights by a score of 17-15 on Wednesday. One positive for the Wildcats, at least, is that this was the most points they've scored all season.

Ellery Baisden and Cooper Corbett stepped up to the plate in a big way. Baisden fired off two home runs, four runs, and five RBI while going 4-for-5, while Corbett went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and three runs. Baisden continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Ella Fruechtemeyer, who scored two runs while going 2-for-5.

They weren't the only ones working in the home run department: Battle Ground Academy lost a few balls and finished the game with three home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.

Battle Ground Academy has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-6 record this season. Those defeats can't be blamed on the team's hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.6 runs over those games. Nolensville's victory bumped their record up to 14-3.

Battle Ground Academy wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next match, a 13-2 win against Franklin Road Academy on the 27th. As for Nolensville, they have also already played their next contest, a 12-0 victory against Franklin on the 27th.
