Basketball Recap: Marco Island Academy Comes Up Short

Marco Island Academy lost against Everglades City last Thursday and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Marco Island Academy Rays received a blow as they fell 50-32 to the Everglades City Gators. That's two games in a row now that the Rays have lost by exactly 18 points.

Gena Collins went supernova for Everglades City, going 9 of 20 en route to 21 points and seven rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Jayde Freeman, who dropped a double-double on ten points and ten boards.

Marco Island Academy's loss was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-5. As for Everglades City, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 7-3 record this season.

Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Mason Classical Academy the next time they take the court. Everglades City will host Mason Classical Academy at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, while Marco Island Academy will head out to face them at 2:30 p.m. on Thursday.
