Football Game Preview: Anderson Trojans vs. Lockhart Lions

The Anderson Trojans will square off against the Lockhart Lions at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Anderson has eight straight victories, Lockhart has three straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

On Thursday, Anderson didn't have too much trouble with Hays as they won 29-14. Those 29 points were actually the fewest the Trojans have put up all season, but given the result they're probably not too concerned.

Caleb Crenshaw was his usual excellent self, rushing for 215 yards and one score while picking up 8.0 yards per carry. Crenshaw is crushing it when it comes to rushing yards: he's rushed for at least 104 every time he's taken the field this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Cove Darbyshire, who threw for 133 yards and one touchdown while completing 73.7% of his passes.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Anderson was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 254 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 254 rushing yards in seven consecutive games.

Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Lockhart faced off against College Station on Friday. The Lions had to suffer through a 45-14 loss at the hands of the Cougars. While losing is never fun, the Lions can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 788th, while the Cougars are ranked 146th).

Lockhart's loss dropped their record down to 1-7. As for Anderson, their win bumped their record up to 8-0.

Everything came up roses for Anderson against Lockhart when the teams last played back in November of 2024, as the team secured a 57-14 victory. Do the Trojans have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Lions turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
