Edgewood is 8-1 against South Putnam since April of 2016 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Wednesday. The Mustangs will square off against the Eagles at 6:00 p.m. Edgewood will be strutting in after a win while South Putnam will be coming in after a loss.
South Putnam will be up against a hot Edgewood team: the squad just extended their winning streak to three. The Mustangs blew past West Vigo 8-1 on Tuesday. The result was nothing new for the Mustangs, who have now won nine matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

ALLY BLAND made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out seven over seven innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in 13 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one triple. That triple marked the first that she has hit this season.
In other batting news, MADI BLAND was incredible, going 3-for-4 with three stolen bases, two runs, and two doubles. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March. ELLA SPROUL was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one home run.
Edgewood was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .385 or higher in three consecutive games.
Meanwhile, South Putnam scored first but ultimately less than Sullivan in their contest on Tuesday. They fell just short of the Golden Arrows by a score of 11-10. The Eagles have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
South Putnam got a massive performance out of Adrie Burge, who fired off two home runs and five RBI while going 2-for-5. The team also got some help courtesy of Elliana Cox, who went 4-for-5 with two runs, two doubles, and one stolen base.
South Putnam's defeat was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 5-4. As for Edgewood, their record now sits at 13-2.
South Putnam's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Wednesday. Edgewood has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 10.5 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for South Putnam, though, as they've been averaging an even more impressive 3.6 strikeouts. Will Edgewood keep running through batters, or will the Eagles buck the trend?
Edgewood came up short against South Putnam when the teams last played back in April of 2025, falling 3-0. Can the Mustangs avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
