Baseball Game Preview: Paxton Bobcats vs. West Florida Baptist Academy Conquerors

The Paxton Bobcats will be defending their home field for the first time this season when they go up against the West Florida Baptist Academy Conquerors at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Paxton is coming home in high spirits after they had to open their season on the road against Vernon. Paxton blew past Vernon 8-2 on Friday.

Phillip Bearden made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing three innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. What's more, he posted four strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April of 2024. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Clete Moore, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-3. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in March of 2024. Colby Vaiyanet was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.

Meanwhile, West Florida Baptist Academy gave up the first runs two weeks ago, but they didn't let that get them down. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past Pensacola 8-7.

Everything went Paxton's way against West Florida Baptist Academy when the teams last played back in April of 2024, as Paxton made off with a 16-0 win. Will Paxton repeat their success, or does West Florida Baptist Academy have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
