Softball Recap: Cypress Ranch Extends Winning Streak to Three

Cypress Ranch lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Cypress Woods, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Tuesday's game. The Cypress Ranch Mustangs were the clear victor by a 12-6 margin over the Cypress Woods Wildcats on Tuesday. The result was nothing new for the Mustangs, who have now won six matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

Naomi Walker and Rylie Skibbe did most of the damage at the plate: Walker went 1-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs, while Skibbe went 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most RBI Skibbe has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Ashlynn Massey, who scored three runs while going 1-for-3.

They weren't the only ones working in the home run department: Cypress Ranch lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.

The win (which was Cypress Ranch's third in a row) raised their record to 11-6. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Cypress Woods, they now have a losing record of 9-10-1.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Cypress Ranch will challenge Bridgeland at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Bridgeland will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something Cypress Ranch surely won't give up without a fight. As for Cypress Woods, a feisty cat fight will be fought as Cypress Woods Wildcats challenge Cypress Park Tigers at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. They are strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.4 runs per game this season.
