Baseball Recap: Hattiesburg Homeschool Has No Trouble Against Laurel Homeschool

Hattiesburg HomeSchool made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Laurel HomeSchool, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Forerunners blew past the Knighthawks 11-1 on Tuesday. With that win, the Forerunners brought their scoring average up to 6.1 runs per game.

Alex Sinclair made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit over four innings pitched. Hattiesburg HomeSchool is undefeated when Sinclair allows one or fewer hits, but 4-7 otherwise. Sinclair was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with five RBI and one double. Those five RBI gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jack Thomas, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-2. He has become a key player for Hattiesburg HomeSchool: the team is 4-2 when he posts at least two runs, but 3-5 otherwise. Ayden Stafford was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in two of his three plate appearances.

Hattiesburg HomeSchool moved to 7-7 with that victory, which also ended their three-game losing streak. As for Laurel HomeSchool, they are on a six-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-5.

Looking ahead, Laurel HomeSchool will take on Coastal Mississippi Homeschool at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Hattiesburg HomeSchool will be paying especially close attention to the Knighthawks' matchup: after the Knighthawks faces off against the Wildcats, they'll take on Hattiesburg HomeSchool again at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday.
