Softball Game Preview: Fulton Red Raiders vs. Auburn Maroons

Fulton hasn't had much luck against Auburn recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Red Raiders will square off against the Maroons at 5:00 p.m. Auburn took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Fulton, who comes in off a win.

Auburn will be up against a hot Fulton team: the squad just extended their winning streak to three. Everything went the Red Raiders' way against Central Square on Tuesday as they made off with a 16-3 win. Fans of the Red Raiders have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season has ended in a blowout of 6+ runs.

Rose Douglas and Emma Spaulding made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Douglas didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over four innings pitched. Meanwhile, Spaulding pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Douglas has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one walk any time she's pitched this season. At bat, Douglas went 1-for-4 with two stolen bases and two runs, while Spaulding went 3-for-5 with two runs and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Riley Trude, who went 4-for-5 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Another player making a difference was Mylah Dempsey, who went 2-for-5 with three RBI and one run.

Fulton always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .533. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Central Square only posted an OBP of .259.

Meanwhile, Wednesday just wasn't the day for Auburn's offense. They lost 19-0 to Fayetteville-Manlius on Wednesday.

Auburn's defeat dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Fulton, their record now sits at 3-0.
