Basketball Game Preview: Dunbar Wildcats vs. Southwest Raiders

The Dunbar Wildcats will take on the Southwest Raiders in a holiday battle at at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

Dunbar is headed into the match having just posted their biggest win since November 26th on Tuesday. They blew past Diamond Hill-Jarvis 59-31.

Meanwhile, Southwest entered their tilt with Carter-Riverside on Tuesday with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. They claimed a resounding 75-23 victory over the Eagles. Given the Raiders' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 324th, while the Eagles are ranked 1466th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Southwest has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a massive bump to their 11-7 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 66.8 points per game. As for Dunbar, they pushed their record up to 7-11 with the win, which was their third straight on the road.
