Soccer Game Preview: Bishop Amat vs. La Serna

The Bishop Amat Lancers will square off against the La Serna Lancers at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Bishop Amat will be looking to extend their current 11-game winning streak.

On Friday, Bishop Amat needed a bit of extra time to put away Salesian. They had just enough and edged the Mustangs out 2-1. Given the Lancers' advantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 16th, while the Mustangs are ranked 309th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Alger Calderon and Eduardo Jr Moreno scored both of Bishop Amat's goals, bringing their combined season tally to 13 goals.

Meanwhile, Thursday just wasn't the day for La Serna's offense. They fell just short of El Rancho by a score of 1-0 on Thursday. The Lancers haven't had much luck with the Dons recently, as the team's come up short the last four times they've met.

Bishop Amat pushed their record up to 19-2-1 with the win, which was their 11th straight at home. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 40 goals over those 11 games. As for La Serna, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 4-13-3.

Bishop Amat beat La Serna 4-2 in their previous meeting back in January of 2024. Will Bishop Amat repeat their success, or does La Serna have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
