Volleyball Recap: Drake/Anamoose Raiders vs. Velva Aggies
It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Drake/Anamoose had no problem doing just that on Thursday. They had just enough and edged the Velva Aggies out 3-2. The victory was familiar territory for the Raiders who have now won four games in a row.
If you add up the scores from across all five sets (104-99) Drake/Anamoose actually scored fewer points, but in the end it didn't matter. The match finished with set scores of 11-25, 25-15, 20-25, 25-23, 18-16.
Despite the defeat, Velva saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Keely Cadwell had 22 digs.
Drake/Anamoose pushed their record up to 9-5-1 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. As for Velva, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost five of their last six contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-18-4 record this season.
