Preview: Parkview Christian Patriots vs. Heartland Huskies

The Parkview Christian Patriots will head out on the road to challenge the Heartland Huskies at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Heartland took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Parkview Christian, who comes in off a win.

It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but Parkview Christian ultimately got the result they hoped for on Tuesday. They pulled ahead with a 61-60 photo finish over Elmwood-Murdock. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.

It was another big night for Terance Pittman, who scored 30 points along with seven rebounds and seven steals. That makes it seven consecutive games in which he has scored at least a third of Parkview Christian's points. Tairren Scott was another key contributor, scoring 19 points along with five rebounds.

Heartland suffered their biggest defeat yet this season two weeks ago. They were beaten by Cross County 63-30. Heartland was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 33-12.

The losing side was boosted by Sam Quiring, who scored 11 points along with two blocks. That's the first time this season that he posted two or more blocks. Another player making a difference was Nick Thieszen, who scored six points.

Parkview Christian's victory bumped their record up to 9-4. As for Heartland, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-6 record this season.

Keep an eye on the arc in Thursday's matchup: Parkview Christian have made nailing deep shots look easy this year this season, having only averaged 5.5 threes per game. It's a different story for Heartland, though, as they've been averaging only 5.3 threes per game. Given Parkview Christian's sizeable advantage in that area, Heartland will need to find a way to close that gap.

Parkview Christian strolled past Heartland in their previous matchup back in December of 2016 by a score of 71-53. Does Parkview Christian have another victory up their sleeve, or will Heartland turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
