Baseball Recap: Richfield Takes a Loss

South Sevier hit Richfield with a six-run second inning on Wednesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Wildcats fell just short of the Rams by a score of 6-5. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Wildcats of the 9-2 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2025.

Richfield got a good showing from Greyson Eyre, who tossed 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. That's the fewest hits Eyre has allowed since back in March.

At the plate, Deigen Hansen was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with two doubles and two RBI.

Richfield has also been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last eight contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-13 record this season. As for South Sevier, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 11-10.

Coming up, Richfield will venture away from home to take on Canyon View at 2:00 p.m. on Friday. As for South Sevier, they will host Monticello at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. The Buckaroo have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed eight runs per game on average), something the Rams will no doubt try to take advantage of.
