Baseball Game Preview: Booneville Blue Devils vs. Belmont Cardinals

For the second straight game, Booneville will face off against Belmont. Booneville will be playing in front of their home fans against Belmont at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Booneville is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.6 runs per game this season.

Having struggled with four losses in a row, Booneville turned things around against Belmont on Tuesday. They blew past the Cardinals 11-3.

Clark Janzen was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out six batters over six innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits. He also tossed two walks, which is notable because Booneville is 3-1 when he allows at most two walks, but 3-12 otherwise. Janzen was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with three RBI and two doubles. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, Colin Flurry was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances. He is becoming a predictor of Booneville's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 2-1 (and 4-12 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Porter Tapp, who scored three runs while going 2-for-4.

Booneville kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 11 hits in three consecutive games.

Belmont is on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-10. As for Booneville, their win was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 6-13.
