Basketball Recap: Friday's Win Is Timpview's 13th in Last 15 Outings

It was a Battle of the Birds when Timpview faced off against Maple Mountain on Friday. The Timpview Thunderbirds secured a 64-60 W over the Maple Mountain Golden Eagles. Given the Thunderbirds' advantage in MaxPreps' Utah basketball rankings (they are ranked second, while the Golden Eagles are ranked 61st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Maple Mountain lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Elijah Liddiard, who went 5-for-9 on his way to 15 points and six rebounds. That's the most boards he has posted since back in December of 2024. Cooper Day was another key player, going 5-for-6 en route to 13 points.

Timpview is on a roll lately: they've won 13 of their last 15 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 18-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 67.8 points over those games. As for Maple Mountain, their defeat was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 9-14.

Timpview does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Maple Mountain, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Cedar Valley at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Maple Mountain is facing Cedar Valley at the right time seeing as Cedar Valley is stuck on a four-game losing streak.
