Basketball Recap: Father Capodanno Grunts vs. Lee Christian Falcons
The Father Capodanno Grunts were the 38-36 winner over the Lee Christian Falcons when they last played one another back in January, but their luck changed this time around. Father Capodanno took a 57-51 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Falcons. Father Capodanno just can't catch a break and has now endured four defeats in a row.
Despite the loss, Father Capodanno still got an impressive performance from Julie Attar, who scored 30 points. That was a full 58.8% of Father Capodanno's points, marking the fourth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Alexis Waldo, who scored eight points.
Lee Christian's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Elayna McFarland led the charge by dropping a triple-double on 28 points, 12 rebounds, and 12 blocks. McFarland is crushing the block category: she's posted at least six every time she's taken the court this season. Madison Mashburn was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 11 points and 11 rebounds.
Father Capodanno's defeat dropped their record down to 9-8. As for Lee Christian, their win ended a eight-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 3-13.
Father Capodanno will take on the Eagles at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Lee Christian does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
