Volleyball Game Preview: Montgomery Bears vs. Dayton Broncos

Montgomery is a perfect 6-0 against Dayton since August of 2018 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Bears are taking a road trip to challenge the Broncos at 6:30 p.m. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this match.

Montgomery is probably headed into the matchup with a chip on their shoulder considering A&M Consolidated just ended the team's eight-match winning streak on Friday. They fell 3-1 to the Tigers.

The match finished with set scores of 25-17, 25-22, 18-25, 25-16.

Despite the loss, Montgomery had strong showings from Kenzie White, who had 13 digs, and Delaney Wright, who had 26 kills and 13 digs. Wright has been hot for a while, having posted five or more kills the last 79 times she's played.

Meanwhile, Dayton also suffered a loss in their last game, falling to Liberty by a score of 3-1.

Dayton started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. The final score came out to 25-27, 25-19, 25-20, 25-19.

Dayton's defeat dropped their record down to 27-17. As for Montgomery, their loss dropped their record down to 35-10.

Everything went Montgomery's way against Dayton in their previous matchup back in August of 2024, as Montgomery made off with a 3-0 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Bears since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
