Basketball Recap: La Salle Academy Falls Short Against Ranked Westerly

On Friday, La Salle Academy faced Westerly in a battle between two of the state's top teams. The La Salle Academy Rams fell to the Westerly Bulldogs 49-43. The Rams were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Bulldogs apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in February of 2024.

Westerly found their leader in freshman Ella Reyes, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 11 boards. Reyes is also crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Madison Pellegrino was another key player, putting up ten points and seven rebounds.

La Salle Academy's loss dropped their record down to 7-9. As for Westerly, they are on a roll lately: they've won 13 of their last 14 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 14-5 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. La Salle Academy will head out to take on Scituate at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday. As for Westerly, they will venture away from home to face off against St. Bernard at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
