Softball Game Preview: Grape Creek Eagles vs. Sweetwater Mustangs

For the second straight game, Grape Creek will face off against Sweetwater. The Eagles will head out on the road to challenge the Mustangs at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Grape Creek hasn't scored more than two runs for seven games straight, a trend the squad is eager to reverse.

Friday just wasn't the day for Grape Creek's offense. They lost 29-0 to Sweetwater on Friday.

For Sweetwater's part, Adison Cotten was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Cotten has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in February.

In other batting news, Sweetwater got a massive performance out of Ayanna Rivera, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with eight stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. That's the most RBI Rivera has posted since back in February. Another player making a difference was Brylie Rodriquez, who went 3-for-5 with six RBI, four runs, and two doubles.

Sweetwater was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .567. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .333 or higher in six consecutive matchups.

Sweetwater's record now sits at 11-20. As for Grape Creek, their loss dropped their record down to 0-18.
