Basketball Recap: Wonderful College Prep Academy Wolves vs. Corcoran Panthers

The Wonderful College Prep Academy Wolves's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Monday after their eighth straight defeat. They had to suffer through a rough 92-37 loss at the hands of Corcoran. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Wonderful College Prep Academy in their matchups with the Panthers: they've now lost six in a row.

Corcoran got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Javon Bragg out in front who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 15 rebounds. Bragg has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last five times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Izaiah Gonzalez, who scored 14 points.

Wonderful College Prep Academy dropped their record down to 2-19 with that defeat, which was their fourth straight at home. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 27.0 points per game. As for Corcoran, the win (which was their 16th in a row) raised their record to 20-2.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Wonderful College Prep Academy will face off against the Bears at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Summit Charter Collegiate Academy knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past four matchups -- so hopefully the Wolves like a good challenge. Corcoran's road trip will continue as they head out to face the Grizzlies at 7:30 p.m. on January 31st. Granite Hills will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps California Rankings (they are ranked 1125th, while the Panthers are ranked 458th).
