Baseball Recap: Caribou's Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Friday

Caribou dropped their record down to 4-2 on Friday, which also ended the team's four-game streak of wins. They fell 10-5 to the Hermon Hawks. The Vikings were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Hawks earlier this season, when they won 3-1.

As for Hermon, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-3 record this season. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for they considering their one-run performance the game before.

For Hermon's part, Cam Morrison was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three stolen bases, and five RBI. Morrison is becoming a predictor of the Hawks' success: when he posts at least two stolen bases the team is undefeated (and 2-3 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Max Hopkins, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, two RBI, and one double.

We've got plenty of inter-region action coming up soon. Caribou is set to take on their familiar foe Presque Isle at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Hermon will face off against rival Mount Desert Island at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
