Newark Memorial had already won six in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 15.3 runs) and they went ahead and made it seven on Thursday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the James Logan Colts 8-6. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Cougars have posted against the Colts since May 4, 2022.

Andrea Tall was excellent, going 1-for-4 with one home run and two runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Mahlyah Sao, who went 1-for-3 with three runs and one RBI.

Newark Memorial's win was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 13-4. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.4 runs on average over those games. As for James Logan, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 13-5-1 record this season.
