Softball Recap: Tuesday's Win Is Crown Point's 16th in Last 18 Outings

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Crown Point walked away with it. They never let the Hammond Morton Governors get on the board and left with a 15-0 win on Tuesday. The result was nothing new for the Bulldogs, who have now won 19 matches by seven runs or more so far this season.

Paige Liezert made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 15 over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 16 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 1-for-1 with one home run and two RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Nevaeh Rangel, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one double. That's the most RBI she has posted over her last ten contests. Another player making a difference was Scarlette Tegtman, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Crown Point kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least ten hits in four consecutive games.

Crown Point is on a roll lately: they've won 16 of their last 18 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 25-4 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for Hammond Morton, their loss dropped their record down to 11-5.

Looking ahead, Crown Point will square off against Hammond Central at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Hammond Morton does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
