Baseball Recap: River Ridge Picks Up Fourth Consecutive Victory

It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but River Ridge ultimately got the result they hoped for on Wednesday. They had just enough and edged out the Dunedin Falcons 2-1. That's two games straight that the Royal Knights have won by just one run.

Cameron Kessell made a big impact no matter where he played. He tossed five innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with one double and one RBI.

In other pitching news, Carson Cooley looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

The win was the fourth in a row for River Ridge, bringing their record for this year to 6-3. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.5 runs on average over those games. As for Dunedin, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-6 record this season.

River Ridge will challenge Nature Coast Tech at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Dunedin, they will square off against St. Petersburg at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Dunedin's pitching crew has only allowed 3.4 runs per game this season, so St. Petersburg's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
