Baseball Game Preview: Iowa Park Hawks vs. Henrietta Bearcats

Iowa Park is a perfect 5-0 against Henrietta since February of 2016 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Hawks will head out to take on the Bearcats at 7:00 p.m. Iowa Park's pitching crew has only allowed 2.2 runs per game this season, so Henrietta's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

On Saturday, Iowa Park beat Boyd 7-2. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Hawks.

CJ McNeill and Layton Deluna did most of the damage at the plate: McNeill scored a run while going 1-for-3, while Deluna scored a run while going 1-for-2. The dominant performance also gave Deluna a new career-high in RBI (two). Another player making a difference was Kane Decker, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one RBI.

Meanwhile, Henrietta hadn't done well against Jacksboro recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Bearcats never let the Tigers get on the board and left with a 1-0 victory. The game was the first time the Bearcats have beaten the Tigers on their field since April 11, 2017.

Not much got past Caden Frost, who gave up just four hits and racked up ten Ks to keep Jacksboro off the board. Frost has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Henrietta's win was truly a team effort as two different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Cooper Coleman, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.

Henrietta's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 13-9-1. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Iowa Park, their record is now 15-7.

Iowa Park was able to grind out a solid victory over Henrietta in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, winning 7-3. Do the Hawks have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Bearcats turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
