Preview: Mondovi Buffaloes vs. Elk Mound Mounders
Mondovi is 2-8 against Elk Mound since February of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Mondovi Buffaloes' road trip will continue as they head out to face the Elk Mound Mounders at 7:15 p.m. on January 18th. Mondovi will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Wisconsin Rankings (they are ranked 118th, while Elk Mound is ranked tenth).
Last Monday, Mondovi came up short against Cadott and fell 56-46.
Meanwhile, Elk Mound put another one in the bag on Monday to keep their perfect season alive. They took their contest at home with ease, bagging a 69-35 win over Osseo-Fairchild. Elk Mound has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won ten contests by 20 points or more this season.
Mondovi's defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 10-5. As for Elk Mound, their victory was their 15th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 16-0.
Mondovi might still be hurting after the 63-43 loss they got from Elk Mound in their previous matchup back in December of 2023. Can Mondovi avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
