Softball Recap: Southside Continues Home Dominance on Saturday

It was a proper cat-fight when Southside challenged Munford on Saturday. The Panthers were the clear victors by a 9-1 margin over the Lions. The Panthers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten matchups by seven runs or more this season.

Southside let Bailey Houston and Kadey Barbe run wild. Houston went a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base, while Barbe went 2-for-3 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run. That's the most RBI Barbe has posted since back in March of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Lauren Mckee, who went 1-for-2 with two runs and one stolen base.

Southside's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 19-13. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.6 runs over those games. As for Munford, with the defeat, they broke their four-game winning streak and moved their record to 23-6-1.

Coming up, Southside will venture away from home to take on Handley at 11:40 a.m. on Saturday. Munford will be paying especially close attention to the Panthers' game: after the Panthers face off against the Tigers, they'll take on Munford again at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday.
