Football Recap: Sotomayor Piles Up the Points Against Holmes

Sotomayor had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 42.5 points) and they went ahead and made it three on Saturday. They claimed a resounding 62-9 victory over the Holmes Huskies. With the WILDCATS ahead 27-3 at the half, the contest was all but over already.

Sotomayor was led to victory by Cameron Grady and Chauncey Moon. Grady gained 216 total yards and four touchdowns, while Moon threw for 214 yards and five TDs on only 15 passes. Those five passing touchdowns gave Moon a new career-high. Xavier Victor was in the mix as well, providing Sotomayor with two touchdowns.

Sotomayor was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 305 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 305 rushing yards in three consecutive matchups.

Sotomayor's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB nine times. The heavy lifting was done by Jonah Moore and Braxton King, who racked up four sacks between them. Moore is becoming a predictor of Sotomayor's success: when he posts at least one sack the team is 2-1 (and 1-2 when he doesn't). Ayden Williams was another major factor on D, picking up a sack and making eight total tackles (3.0 for loss).

The win got Sotomayor back to even at 3-3. As for Holmes, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-5.
