Basketball Recap: Columbia Snaps Four-Game Streak of Losses at Home

Columbia needed a changed in momentum after dropping three straight games and they got it from Jayden Sawyer. The Columbia Wildcats were the clear victor by a 61-41 margin over the Northeast Academy For Aerospace and Advanced Tech Griffins on Wednesday thanks in part to Sawyer, who went 14 of 23 en route to 33 points in addition to seven rebounds and three blocks. The game was his eighth in a row with at least ten points.

Loss or not, Northeast Academy For Aerospace and Advanced Tech got some senior leadership from Jace Rodgers and Deshaun Greene. Rodgers posted 14 points, while Greene had 11 points.

Columbia's win ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 3-12. As for Northeast Academy For Aerospace and Advanced Tech, their defeat was their 29th straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-15.

Columbia has already played their next contest (against Ocracoke), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Northeast Academy For Aerospace and Advanced Tech won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Albemarle School at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
