Basketball Recap: Wausa Extends Winning Streak to Two

If Osmond wanted to avenge their loss from the last time they played Wausa, they should've done a better job of containing Taylor Dawson. The Wausa Vikings sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 49-46 victory over the Osmond Tigers on Monday thanks in part to Dawson, who went 6-for-13 to rack up 18 points and four steals. That makes it five consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of Wausa's points.

The team also got some help courtesy of Kennedy Gillilan, who posted five points along with five boards and three steals. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in assists (three).

Osmond's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kaleigh Miller, who had 11 points and eight rebounds. Miller is on a roll when it comes to boards, as she's now pulled down eight or more in each of the last eight games she's played. Sophie Gansebom was another key player, dropping a double-double with 15 points and ten rebounds.

The win made it two in a row for Wausa and bumps their season record up to 11-13. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 7-18 Osmond and 7-17 Osmond. As for Osmond, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-18.

Wausa didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 68-32 loss against Cedar Catholic on the 18th. Osmond does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
