Avon extended their losing streak to four on Wednesday, dropping their season record down to 2-4 in the process. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost an 8-7 heartbreaker at the hands of the Southington Blue Knights. On the bright side, the seven- run effort marked the Falcons' highest-scoring matchup to date.

As for Southington, they pushed their record up to 5-0 with the win, which was their 18th straight at home dating back to last season. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.1 runs on average over those games.

For Southington's part, they got a big performance out of Max Pierce, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run. Those two hits gave Pierce a new career-high. Zach Noyes also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.
