Baseball Recap: Hoover Victorious

Hoover had lost three games straight , but after bumping their record up to 14-11 on Tuesday that streak is in the rearview. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Louisville Leopards, sneaking past 4-3. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Jack Andes was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and only one walk). He also tossed a walk, which is notable because Hoover is 7-3 when he allows at most one walk, but 7-8 otherwise. Andes was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with four stolen bases and three runs. Those three runs gave him a new career-high.

Andes wasn't the only one making solid contact as two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Roman Geiselman, who went 2-for-4 with one RBI.

As for Louisville, they now have a losing record of 11-12. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

On Louisville's side, they got a good showing from Kaden Kortis, who pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Kortis has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one walk in six consecutive appearances.

Hoover has already played their next matchup, a 4-2 loss against Mentor on the 24th. As for Louisville, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 3-1 defeat against Alliance on the 23rd.
