Softball Recap: St. Joseph's Academy Comes Up Short

St. Joseph's Academy had lost five straight at home, but on Friday they dropped down to 6-11 to make it six. They fell just short of the St. Thomas Aquinas Falcons by a score of 8-6. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Redstickers have suffered since February 28th.

As for St. Thomas Aquinas, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 12 of their last 13 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-8 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.8 runs over those games.

For St. Thomas Aquinas' part, Rylie Inzinna was incredible, firing off two home runs, three runs, and four RBI while going 3-for-5. Those two home runs gave Inzinna a new career-high. Lylah Madere was another key player, going 3-for-5 with one home run, three runs, and one double.

Looking ahead, St. Joseph's Academy will host Scotlandville at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Hornets have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 15.38 runs per game on average), something the Redstickers will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for St. Thomas Aquinas, they will be taking part in a tournament against St. Michael at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.
