Baseball Recap: Mt. Blue Gets the Win

Mt. Blue's game on Thursday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. They had just enough and edged out the Skowhegan River Hawks 5-4. For the Cougars, this counts as revenge for the 8-2 victory the River Hawks walked away with the last time they faced one another back in May of 2024.

Nolan Leso spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned (and two unearned) runs on six hits and racked up six Ks.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Gage Decarolis, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. He also put up an RBI, which was his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Cameron Norton, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one run.

Mt. Blue hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their strikeout total in three consecutive contests.

Mt. Blue now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Skowhegan, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-4.
