Baseball Recap: Friday's Win Is Highland's Eighth in Last Nine Outings

Highland won the last time they faced Hillcrest and things went their way on Friday too. The Rebels walked away with an 8-3 win over the Screamin Eagles.

Hayden Hyslip made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He tossed seven innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with three stolen bases, one run, and one double. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, Mason Sinclair was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and one double. Lexxon Johnson also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.

Highland is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 23-3 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.2 runs over those games. As for Hillcrest, they have been struggling recently as they've lost nine of their last 12 contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-11 record this season.

As of now, neither Highland nor Hillcrest have any future games scheduled.
