Recap: Whitewright Tigers vs. Celeste Blue Devils
The Whitewright Tigers's game on Tuesday was all tied up 13-13 at the half, but sadly for them it didn't stay that way. They took a 36-32 hit to the loss column at the hands of Celeste. While losing is never fun, Whitewright can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1032nd, while Celeste is ranked 396th).
Taylea West was her usual excellent self, scoring 17 points along with four steals for Celeste. The contest was West's 11th in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Jaia Rector, who scored four points along with seven rebounds and three steals.
Whitewright's defeat was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 7-5. As for Celeste, the win for they keeps them at an undefeated 15-0.
Whitewright will head out on the road to face off against Sam Rayburn at 6:15 p.m. on Friday. Celeste will be home for the holidays to greet Wolfe City at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
