Greater Wichita City recap Oct. 16, 2012

The biggest upset of the week belonged to West, who took down 83rd ranked West, 39-28.

Carroll extended the longest winning streak in Greater Wichita City this week by beating Eisenhower, 55-0. The victory was the seventh in a row for the Golden Eagles.

East's dynamic duo of T.J. Sparr and Willie Edwards proved tough for Heights to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Sparr threw for 125 yards and two touchdowns and Edwards had 55 yards receiving. Garrett Gates helped East's passing attack out by catching one ball for 32 yards.

Deron Thompson was the most productive running back in the league this week. He ran for 240 yards on 31 carries as Northwest fell to the Falcons. Chris Hughes also contributed to the rushing game with 107 yards on the ground.

East's Sparr and J.J. Normore have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Sparr has thrown for 527 yards this season, while Normore, a 6-foot-5 receiver, has 15 catches for 274 yards. Thompson from the Grizzlies leads the league in rushing with 916 yards.

Northwest's Thompson is a mere 84 yards away from breaking the 1,000-rushing-yards mark for the season.

A big matchup in Greater Wichita City this week will be when Heights takes on Southeast. As it stands, Rick Wheeler's team is in second, while the Golden Buffalo are in sixth.

Carroll took down the Tigers 55-0 last week, the largest margin of any game.
