Basketball Recap: Broomfield Eagles vs. Boulder Panthers

Even though the Boulder Panthers scored an imposing 66 points on Friday, the Broomfield Eagles still came out on top. Broomfield took their matchup against the Panthers 73-66. Given Broomfield's advantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 45th, while the Panthers are ranked 156th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Broomfield's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Joey Cook, who almost dropped a double-double on 22 points and nine rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Cook has scored all season. Blaes Kane was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with eight rebounds.

Despite the defeat, Boulder had strong showings from George Schmid, who scored 21 points, and Kyle Blauch, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 13 rebounds. Blauch hasn't dropped below 12 rebounds for seven straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Lake Smith, who scored 13 points along with three steals.

Broomfield has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 12-6 record this season. As for Boulder, their loss was their fifth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 6-11.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Broomfield will square off against the Thunderhawks at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Prairie View has now lost nine straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since January 6. As for Boulder, they will head out on the road to square off against the Coyotes at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Monarch has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 427 points over their last six contests.
