Basketball Preview: Lincoln Cougars vs. Hampshire Trojans
Lincoln is on a three-game streak of home losses, the Trojans an eight-game streak of away losses (dating back to last season), but someone's luck is about to change. The Lincoln Cougars will take on the Hampshire Trojans at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Last Wednesday, Lincoln was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 44-38 to the Eagles.
Meanwhile, Hampshire pushed their score all the way to 64 on Wednesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell 73-64 to Clarke County. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as Hampshire came into the match with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 62nd in West Virginia, while the Eagles are ranked 212th in Virginia).
Lincoln has not been sharp recently as the team's lost five of their last six contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-8 record this season. As for Hampshire, their defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 5-10.
