Millard West piles up the points against Buena Vista

The Millard West Wildcats scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. They took their contest on the road with ease, bagging a 79-33 victory over Buena Vista. That 79-33 margin sets a new team best for Millard West this season.

Millard West can attribute much of their success to Carter LaBorde, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 11 rebounds. That's the first time this season that LaBorde pulled down eight or more rebounds. Cooper Fortune was another key contributor, scoring 11 points.

Buena Vista's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Ben Harris, who scored 12 points, and Eli Smith who scored four points along with five rebounds. Those 12 points set a new season-high mark for him.

Buena Vista struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only four offensive rebounds. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Millard West pulled down 15 offensive rebounds.

Millard West has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a nice bump to their 5-2 record this season. As for Buena Vista, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-7.

Millard West and Gretna will round out the year against one another at 12:00 p.m. on Friday at. One thing working in Gretna's favor is that they have posted big point totals every time they've taken the court this season. Buena Vista will be staying on the road on Saturday to face off against Burke at 8:30 a.m. on December 30th. Burke is coming into the match on a four-game losing streak.
