Baseball Game Preview: Edgewater Eagles vs. Foundation Academy Lions

The Edgewater Eagles will head out to square off against the Foundation Academy Lions at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Edgewater is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.3 runs per game this season.

Fans were treated to a battle of the Eagles on Saturday. Edgewater never let Trinity Christian Academy get on the board and left with a 5-0 victory.

Tanner Johnson looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. That's the fewest hits he has allowed since back in February.

On the hitting side, Odanyx Ofarril and Coron Victor did most of the damage at the plate: Ofarril scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances, while Victor scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances. Victor has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played. Another player making a difference was Justin Hopper, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-1.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Foundation Academy, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Thursday. They blew past Davenport 16-1 on Saturday. Considering the Lions have won seven matches by more than six runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

Drew Calhoun looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Barak Boston, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with five RBI and three runs. That's the most hits he has posted since back in February. The team also got some help courtesy of David Hwang, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI.

Foundation Academy has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-6 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. Edgewater now has a winning record of 10-9.

Edgewater might still be hurting after the 9-1 defeat they got from Foundation Academy in their previous matchup back in March of 2024. Can Edgewater avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
