Basketball Game Preview: Archbishop Bergan Knights vs. Arlington Eagles

Having just played yesterday, the Archbishop Bergan Knights will head out on the road to face off against the Arlington Eagles at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Archbishop Bergan is headed into the contest having just posted their closest victory since February 16, 2024 on Friday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Bishop Neumann, sneaking past 36-33. The 36-point effort marked the Knights' lowest-scoring matchup of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.

Meanwhile, everything came up roses for Arlington against Louisville on Friday as the squad secured a 61-33 win. The Eagles pushed the score to 51-27 by the end of the third, a deficit the Lions had little chance of recovering from.

Arlington's win came from a few key players Archbishop Bergan will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Trent Koger, who went 8-for-19 to rack up 20 points in addition to six boards and three blocks. He is on a roll when it comes to blocks, as he's now posted two or more in each of the last five games he's played. Another player making a difference was Oliver Ladehoff, who posted 12 points along with seven rebounds and six assists.

Arlington pushed their record up to 12-8 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.2 points over those games. As for Archbishop Bergan, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 10-8.

Everything went Archbishop Bergan's way against Arlington when the teams last played back in January of 2024, as Archbishop Bergan made off with a 74-52 victory.
