Recap: Northwood Academy Chargers vs. Wilson Hall Barons

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but unfortunately for The Northwood Academy Chargers, they weren't the ones who walked away with it. Their tough 49-28 defeat to Wilson Hall on Friday might stick with them for a while. Despite 142 more yards than Wilson Hall, Northwood Academy couldn't convert that extra yardage to scores.

Aydan Hogan and Austyn Grady certainly did their best on Friday to try and avoid the loss. Hogan picked up 144 receiving yards and two touchdowns, while Grady threw for 352 yards and three touchdowns.

Even if they lost, Northwood Academy's defensive line sure didn't make it easy: Wilson Hall's QB was sacked three times before it was all said and done. Leading the way was Gabe Roper and his two sacks.

Wilson Hall got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Clark Kinney out in front who rushed for 17 yards and two touchdowns, and also threw for 77 yards and a touchdown. Dylan Jones and his 82 yards on the ground were also a key factor in Wilson Hall's win.

Northwood Academy are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-5. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 8-3 Pinewood Prep (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 60.6% over those games). As for Wilson Hall, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a nice bump to their 9-2 record this season.

Northwood Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Wilson Hall will head out on the road to face off against Florence Christian at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Both teams are coming into the contest red-hot, with Florence Christian sitting on four straight wins and Wilson Hall on three.
