Cottonwood won the last time they faced Samson and things went their way on Thursday too. The Bears enjoyed a cozy 40-22 win over the Tigers. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Bears.

Ethan Simmons was his usual excellent self, rushing for 89 yards and one touchdown on only eight carries, while also throwing for 136 yards and a pair of TDs on only six passes. Louis Scales was another key player, rushing for 157 yards and a pair of scores on only 15 carries.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Cottonwood was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 332 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 225 rushing yards in four consecutive matchups.

When it comes to explaining why Samson lost, don't look at Gus Revels. Despite the final result, he rushed for 100 yards and two TDs. Kelin Hornsby also helped out with an impressive 88 receiving yards.

The victory got Cottonwood back to even at 2-2-1. As for Samson, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-3.

Looking ahead, Cottonwood will square off against Rehobeth at 7:00 p.m. on the 26th. As for Samson, they will host Kinston at 7:00 p.m. on the 26th. The Tigers will be up against the Bulldogs' rather soft defense (which has allowed 28.8 points per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
