Basketball Recap: Hillsboro Gets the Win

Hillsboro hadn't done well against Washington recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Hillsboro Indians sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 49-47 victory over the Washington Blue Lions. This was a revenge game for the Indians: when they faced off against the Blue Lions back in December of 2024, they had to take a 58-41 loss.

Despite the loss, Washington still got an impressive performance from Bryson Heath, who posted eight points and eight rebounds. Those eight boards gave Heath a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Noah Haithcock, who put up nine points along with four blocks and three steals.

Hillsboro now has a winning record of 7-6. As for Washington, their defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 8-9.

Hillsboro will welcome Lynchburg-Clay at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Washington, they will venture away from home to square off against Clinton-Massie at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Washington is facing Clinton-Massie at the right time seeing as Clinton-Massie is stuck on a five-game losing streak.
